FOU Reunion Weekend Sept 25 - 27 (RSVP!)

In case you haven't heard, it's time for another reunion weekend. We again have decided to have it in DC. There's a large group of Ukr-RPCVs plus a whole lot to see and do.

The weekend will look something like this:

Fri. evening - happy hour
Sat morning - tourist-y activity
Sat lunch - lunch meeting regarding possible grants, brainstorm ideas for FOU activities
Sat afternoon - business meeting in person and via conference call
Sat evening - dinner (perhaps casual event @ someone's home where we boil up some pelmeni and varnyky and get some Ukr-salads)
Sun morning - breakfast (we found a great cheap buffet last year)

One thing I propose we do is to get some recent returnees to tell us about their recent experiences. This keeps all of from across the year connected to RPCV life in Ukraine.

What we are looking for now are the following:

1) RSVPs. Look at your calendars and see if you can make it. Whether you are in the DC area or out of town, please RSVP to let us know if you can make it.
2) Ideas and offers to help organize
3) Anyone who wants to be on the organizing conference call on 8/18 (info to be provided).

Lani and Ross. can we link via Skype end via AT&T conference call at 3 PM ET various regional and PC Ukraine groups to your FRIENDS OF UKRAINE (FoU-PC) annual meeting in DC on Saturday, 26 September 2009?

For example, five of us from Group 14 will be together in Savannah, Georgia, at that time and can be online via Skype as a group in video at 3 PM ET after our Skype audio conference call about plans for Yalta-in-2011 with others (who is interested?) at 2 PM on that day.

I need to know this week because I may be off-line for a while after the 3rd of September, this Thursday.

For another example, could a cluster/chapter meet at, say, 2pm ET in NYC, Bohdon and Elsa, perhaps at Columbia U?

How about you two, Suzy and Donna B -- and a couple more, maybe particularly from your Groups 13 and 15 -- in Chicago?

Donna F, is there anyone near enough to you there in Michigan to "meet" then perhaps?

Virginia and Mark, could you two from Santa Fe be "with us" that day for an hour or so, at noon via Skype and/or at 1pm MT via AT&T?

This could be sort of like the quick Ukrainian independence day celebrations we put together on the spur of the moment a few years ago.

Heidi and jessie, please comment here in Lani's new forum about whether or not you can (and perhaps get a few others to) "attend" from Ukraine, Estonia or anywhere else -- via skype and/or AT&T toll-free calls.
