About Friends of Ukraine

Friends of Ukraine activities focus on advocacy, education, environment, economic development and health. We work with Peace Corps and related agencies and we network and promote service and social activities among our members. As we evolve and mature, so will our mission and our vision.

Friends of Ukraine has three main goals:
1. We implement programs, activities, and publications related to Ukraine for the benefit of our membership.
2. We support projects and organizations in Ukraine as appropriate.
3. We promote cultural and commercial exchanges between the people of Ukraine and the United States

In our short history, Friends of Ukraine members have initiated and influenced development of several significant projects including work in the areas of human trafficking, orphanages, HIV/AIDS awareness, summer camps, wind energy development, NGO website design, teacher training, business centers, and environmental issues. Friends of Ukraine was awarded a $1000 grant from the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) to support innovative sister college partnerships involving L'viv-Kansas and Kherson-Minnesota.

Friends of Ukraine is developing a small grants program (having already made three $500 grants for US-Ukraine projects) and will continue to grow and serve as our membership increases. We celebrate in 2008 the 15th anniversary of Peace Corps Ukraine in this relaunch of Friends of Ukraine, aimed at achieving much before we celebrate the Peace Corps 50th anniversary in 2011.
